The Limitations of Water Cooling
Limitations of Water Cooling:
Wet products require drying. Containers exit water cooling tunnels wet and require a subsequent drying stage before proceeding to labeling, printing, or packaging.
Elevated microbiological risk. The constant presence of water increases the risk of biofilm formation and requires control of pathogens such as legionella through biocides and regular cleaning. The greater the contact between product and water, the greater the risk of contamination.
Demanding maintenance. Water cooling systems require circuit cleaning, disinfection, and descaling. Water treatment adds operational complexity and cost.
Thermal shock risk. If cooling is not managed progressively, water cooling can generate thermal shock and internal stresses in products.
Humid plant environment. Water cooling creates humid zones, condensation, and corrosion risks in the production area.
